Easy Walksnail Avatar Pro Night Vision Setup Guide for SpeedyBee Mario Mini 25

Want amazing low-light and night flying on your Mario Mini 25? The Walksnail Avatar Pro Night Vision edition is a great choice. This beginner-friendly guide covers unboxing, wiring, Betaflight setup, binding, and first flight tips.

Note: This is a modular install — it requires basic wiring (no advanced soldering needed if you use connectors). Take your time and work with props off.

1. What You’ll Need

• SpeedyBee Mario Mini 25 drone
• Walksnail Avatar Pro Night Vision VTX + Camera kit
• Compatible Walksnail goggles (Goggles X or L recommended)
• 3S LiPo battery (450–650mAh)
• Betaflight Configurator (free)
• Small screwdriver and optional heat shrink/zip ties

2. Physical Installation & Wiring

1. Mount the camera and VTX securely in the frame (use existing mounts or 3D printed adapters if needed).
2. Wiring basics (VTX to Flight Controller):
• Positive (VBAT or 9V/12V pad) → VTX power (check voltage rating — Pro kits handle 3S well)
• Ground → Ground pad
• TX (from FC) → RX on VTX
• RX (from FC) → TX on VTX

Tip: Use a free UART (e.g., UART1 or UART2). Many builds use the same ports as DJI setups.

 Example Ports tab in Betaflight – enable MSP for your chosen UART.

3. Betaflight Setup

1. Connect the drone to your computer via USB.
2. In Betaflight:
• Ports tab: Enable MSP on the UART you wired to the VTX. Set Peripherals to VTX (MSP + DisplayPort).
• Receiver tab: Set to CRSF (for ELRS radio).
• Save and reboot.
3. Go to OSD tab and enable elements you want on your goggles.

4. Walksnail Binding & Firmware

1. Update firmware on the VTX and goggles using the Walksnail app or configurator (download from CaddxFPV site).
2. Power on the VTX and goggles — they should auto-bind if on the same channel (or manually pair via the menu).
3. Test video feed — the Night Vision mode shines in low light!

5. Bind Your ELRS Radio

Follow the same ELRS binding steps as in the main Mario Mini 25 guide (or our previous RadioMaster Pocket tutorial). The built-in receiver works independently of the video system.

6. Pre-Flight & First Flight Tips

• Install props in the correct direction.
• Arm without props first and check motors/video.
• For night flying: Use the Pro Night Vision settings in the goggles for best performance.
• Start in a safe, open area. The Mario Mini 25 is agile — fly smooth at first.

Common Issues & Fixes

• No video: Check wiring (TX/RX reversed is common) and power cycle.
• Poor range: Ensure antennas are clear and firmware is updated.
• Low light performance: Adjust exposure/gain in the Walksnail menu.
